Annual Campaign

Annual campaign donors at every giving level are critical to Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. Contributions last year were instrumental in enabling us to enhance our facilities and services, from acquiring essential equipment to embarking on campus enhancement projects. Pictured below, Dr. Minal Cordeiro stands next to a Hana® Orthopedic Surgery Table which was purchased in the fall of 2023 thanks to a generous donor. The donor wanted his contribution to help recruit and retain top-notch providers, improve patient surgical outcomes and increase access to care. The new Hana® Orthopedic Surgery Table at Pen Bay has allowed surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures, including the anterior approach to total hip replacements, which had previously only been available at a few hospitals in the state. Dr. Cordeiro says of the Hana® Table, "The greatest benefit for our patients is that, in most cases, the anterior approach to total hip replacement will be a same day procedure, and patients experience less pain and faster recovery times. They can be walking with no assistance within a couple of days."

In addition, philanthropic contributions of close to $50,000 provided the opportunity for 17 care teams members to further their education which also helps us develop our workforce.

As we look to the future, we are focusing on three key areas:

  • Investing in equipment and technology
Prioritize the acquisition of critical medical equipment and technology, ensuring that we can meet the evolving needs of our patients.
  • Developing our workforce
Invest in the development of our workforce through expanded training opportunities and scholarship programs.
  • Implementing environmental sustainability initiatives
Further our dedication to environmental sustainability through projects like transitioning to energy-efficient LED lighting and improving insulation throughout our campuses.

How will my gift be recognized?

All gifts, regardless of the amount, help us with our mission to make our communities the healthiest in America. Every donor receives a written acknowledgment from the philanthropy department and every donor’s name is included in the annual report, unless anonymity is requested. We love to learn more about why our donors choose to support us, so we may also reach out via email or phone to tell you how much we appreciate you.

Your support has a tangible impact on the health and well-being of our community!

It's easy to give to the annual campaign with our secure, online form.

Thank you to all the care team members who contributed to help create the Healing Garden at Waldo County General Hospital and revitalize the Courtyard Gardens at Pen Bay Medical Center!

Upgrading our outdoor spaces will enhance the patient, visitor and care team member experience. The healing power of nature is well documented: what we see every day impacts how we feel. With patient privacy and healing in mind, we are creating or revitalizing outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Work to renovate the courtyards at Pen Bay has begun! The interior courtyards are being revitalized so they can be enjoyed by patients, visitors and care team members. This project will transform these highly visible gardens which can be viewed from many departments, including the SCU patient rooms, the hallway to day surgery and the lab waiting room.

At Waldo we are working to line up contractors to begin the initial groundwork to create a healing garden for patients, visitors and care team members. The garden will provide a peaceful vista for patients receiving infusion and chemotherapy treatments in the oncology department, as well as many other departments, while also providing privacy.
