The Diabetes Education Program at Stephens Memorial Hospital is recognized by the American Association of Diabetes Educators and is staffed by a certified diabetes educator. Our mission is to improve the health care outcomes and quality of life for members of our community living with diabetes.
Our Diabetes Education Program Offers:
- Diabetes self-management education
- Insulin pump initiation and ongoing management
- Continuous glucose monitors
- Insulin and other injection training
- Blood sugar meter training
- Carbohydrate counting

Diabetes Self-Management
Whether your are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for many years, our Diabetes Self-Management Education program will help you manage your condition and live a healthier lifestyle. We offer both one-day and multiple-class sessions. A physician referral is required. The program cost is usually covered by Medicare, MaineCare and private insurance. Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
Our providers offer care for diabetes, thyroid diseases, and other endocrine conditions.
Educating patients about chronic wounds is an important part of effective wound care and recovery.
